TL;DR

  • Fresh Prints gives chapters different merch paths for individual buys, event drops, and big custom moments.
  • Studio Fresh Prints is best for ready-to-buy licensed sorority merch with no minimums.
  • Fresh Prints Made-to-Order helps chapters build fully custom drops with exact colors and construction details.
  • The Design Tool works best for standard custom orders on in-stock garments with faster turnaround.
  • Pick based on timing, order size, customization needs, and how unique the final piece should feel.

Fresh Prints has two main ways to get sorority merch, and they solve completely different problems. Neither is better than the other, they are built for different situations. Knowing the difference saves your chapter a lot of unnecessary back-and-forth when merch season hits next semester.

What Is Studio Fresh Prints?

Studio Fresh Prints is a ready-to-buy retail shop with officially licensed sorority merch that is already designed, already on-trend, and ready to ship. Find your sorority, pick the piece you want, select your size, and check out. No group order, no design approval, no production wait, no minimums...ever.

Studio is for situations like a new member who wants a chapter piece between drops, an exec who needs a quick individual gift, or anyone who just wants something cute without coordinating a chapter-wide order. We go deeper on everything Studio FP has to offer in this blog.

What Is the Made-to-Order Program?

The Made-to-Order Program is what you choose when your chapter wants to build something from scratch: a Bid Day set, a Recruitment look, a Big/Little drop that feels specifically and unmistakably yours.

The key thing that separates made-to-order from a regular custom order is this: you are not just adding a design onto an existing garment. You are customizing the garment itself.

What You Can Actually Customize

The base. Choose from a full catalog of Fresh Prints Exclusives products like hoodies, mock necks, crewnecks, shorts, and more. The garment you pick is the foundation everything else builds on, so this is where the process starts.

The color. This is the biggest differentiator. With a regular bulk order, you are choosing from whatever colors that garment already comes in. With made-to-order, you choose from 50+ fabric colors. The actual fabric of the garment is manufactured in your chosen color. That means your chapter's exact colors, not the closest in-stock option.

The extras. This is where made-to-order pieces start looking like nothing else on campus. You can add color blocking (different colors on the body, sleeves, hood, or cuffs), stripes along sleeves or pant legs, hood lining in a contrasting color, hood stitching, or cover stitching along the seams. These are construction-level details that get built into the garment before it is ever printed on.

The print. Once the garment itself is set, you choose your print method (screen print, embroidery, applique, direct-to-film, and more) and add your chapter's design on top.

The minimum order for made-to-order is 50 units. Production runs 3 to 8 weeks depending on which delivery tier you choose: rush at around 3 weeks, standard at around 4 weeks, or economy at 6 to 8 weeks on select garments.

How Made-to-Order Is Different From a Regular Bulk Custom Order

A regular custom order through the Fresh Prints Design Tool works like this: you browse a catalog of in-stock garments, pick one, and customize the print on top of it (screen print, embroidery, whatever fits your design). You can change colors, add your letters, upload artwork, and make the print feel specific to your chapter. Minimums start at 12 units and standard turnaround is 11 to 14 days.

That is a great option for a lot of orders. But what you cannot do with a regular custom order is change the fabric color of the garment itself, add color blocking or stripes as part of the construction, or choose a silhouette that is not already sitting in inventory.

Made-to-order exists for the moments when those things matter. When your chapter wants a hoodie in your exact shade of blue rather than the closest in-stock option. When you want stripes on the sleeves that are sewn in, not printed on. When the merch needs to feel like it was built for your chapter specifically, because it was.

Which One Does Your Chapter Actually Need?

The simplest way to think about it by situation:

  • A new member wants a chapter piece this week. Studio FP.
  • Your chapter wants Bid Day looks in a custom color with color-blocked sleeves. Made-to-order.
  • Your chapter needs matching shirts for philanthropy in two weeks. Regular bulk custom order through the Design Tool.
  • You are doing a Big/Little set and want something cohesive that no other chapter has. Made-to-order.
  • Someone wants a licensed piece with her letters, no coordination required. Studio FP.
  • Your chapter is doing a casual chapter-wide drop on a standard garment with your own design. Regular bulk custom order through the Design Tool.

Most chapters use all three across the year without necessarily naming the strategy. Big chapter moments get made-to-order. Mid-semester drops and themed events use the Design Tool. Individual purchases between drops go to Studio FP. Each one fits the use case it was built for.
